A YOUNG man has been arrested in connection with multiple sexual assaults in Oxford

A 20-year-old from Oxford was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by penetration, sexual assault and exposure on Friday (March 22).

Thames Valley Police said on Saturday afternoon he remains in police custody. 

The arrest relates to sexual assaults in Speedwell Street, Mill Street and Oxpens Road on Thursday evening (March 21).

An image of a man released yesterday in connection with the sexual assaults has been removed as he has been identified. 

Two other sexual assaults have also been reported in connection with this series.

Two women, one in her late teens and the other in her 20s, were touched inappropriately over their clothing by an offender unknown to them in separate incidents on Becket Street at around 10pm on Thursday (March 21). 

Detective Sergeant Pete Warne, of Oxford CID, said: “We have arrested a man in connection with these sexual assaults and are enquiries are ongoing.

“We have also received two further sexual assaults around the same time as the other offences with similar circumstances so they have been linked to this series.
