THE sentencing of a man found guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl has been delayed as he faces further charges.

Daniel Bucknell, 28, was found guilty after a trial at Oxford Crown Court with one count each of rape and attempted rape which both took place on March 26, 2022.

He trapped a 15-year-old girl in a bathroom and forced her to perform oral sex on him before trying to have penetrative sex with her during a house party, the court heard.

Bucknell, of Nightingale Avenue, Oxford, denied the offences – telling police the oral sex was consensual and that the girl had told him she was 16 years old.

He was due to be sentenced at the same court on March 28 but the date has been delayed as Bucknell faces additional charges.

On Wednesday (March 20), he was due to stand trial for one count of burglary of an electric bike and battery.

However, he pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods instead between April 2 and April 5 last year and the prosecution accepted this plea and the burglary count will be vacated.

His sentencing has now been delayed until April 18 so a pre-sentence report can be prepared.

It was due to be started on March 20 but was unable to go ahead due to Bucknell appearing in court for the trial.
