A series of photographs focusing on the emotions, facial expressions and instinctive reactions of Newcastle United fans in the stands during the Kevin Keegan ‘Entertainers’ era has been published.

Keith Pattison, who also took powerful pictures during the 1984/85 Miners’ Strike in Easington, was at St James’ Park, as well as away games, during the dramatic 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons.

The Magpies stood on the brink of Premier League titles in consecutive seasons, only to finish second, both times to Manchester United.

Keith, now 73, who lives near Berwick, said: “I was never tempted to turn around to catch a glance of play. The faces in front of me provided a running commentary in themselves, a 90-minute emotional rollercoaster.” 

A limited edition A5 fanzine containing 30 black and white photographs across 44 pages has been produced and costs £8.50.
