KARL Robinson has heaped praise on Jurgen Klopp’s managing of players as the Liverpool boss aims to secure a second Champions League title tonight.

Klopp’s Liverpool side face Real Madrid as the Merseyside club seek to win a seventh European Cup.

Robinson grew up watching the all-conquering Liverpool side of the 1980s and pinpointed what it is he feels has brought Klopp success at Anfield.

“What I love about Liverpool is the rotation and the fact they buy into the culture,” the United head coach said.

“They can all be rotated and no-one’s throwing their arms in the air when they get dragged off in finals or not starting.

“I think that’s what’s so special about what Jurgen Klopp’s managed to do.

“You see this holistic approach to winning games of football, not a shallow, one-directional way that players should play every week.

“I’m still just a kid who loves football. I’ve never forgotten that in 13 years of managing.

“I love this game more now than when I was eight or nine years old watching Liverpool.”

The Reds and Man City have dominated English football in recent years, impressing not just with their trophy hauls, but their style of play too.

For Robinson, the way both Klopp and City boss Pep Guardiola have engrained themselves into their clubs has also been a key factor in success on the pitch.

The U’s boss said: “It’s the ones who try to change a culture for their personal gain who fall short, because they don’t know where to go when it goes wrong.

“I remember reading about Pep Guardiola incorporating the Man City method within his philosophy. Jurgen Klopp’s done exactly the same.

“He speaks of the past with tremendous respect and knowing that respect he shows can formulate a way of playing.

“That’s what he’s been a genius at. He gets the people of Liverpool care for their club.”

Following Liverpool’s Emirates FA Cup triumph on penalties against Chelsea, Robinson highlighted the bond Klopp has created between his team and the club’s supporters.

“I listened to him on a Sunday morning speaking to Liverpool TV and he said the one thing he realised on Saturday was he was celebrating with the fans and seeing facial expressions,” said Robinson.

“He turned around and his players had exactly the same expressions.

“That’s the most powerful place a manager can put yourself.

“He’s managed to find a place in Liverpool’s history where the line crosses and he’s found the sweet spot.

“As a fan it’s brilliant to watch, it’s how long he can sustain it for.”

Liverpool take on Real Madrid in a rematch of the 2018 Champions League final, which the Spanish side won 3-1.

Sadio Mane cancelled out Karim Benzema’s opener, before a brace from Gareth Bale won the game for Real.
