GEMMA Sims says her Oxford United teammates play their best football in the bigger games as they continue their title challenge.

United thrashed Keynsham Town 9-0 last weekend to complete their home programme undefeated, and now face five away games to end the season.

Next up is Bridgwater United, one place behind the U’s in fourth.

While the Somerset side are almost certainly out of the title fight, they will provide stern opposition for United.

Sims said: “We want to finish the season on a high, whether we win the league or not.

“So we’re going out there and we’re going to compete and try to get maximum points.

“We excel at the tough games and that’s when we play our best football.”

Although the U’s beat Bridgwater at home in both the league and the League Cup earlier this season, manager Liam Gilbert said his side are in for a difficult game.

“There’s been a good buzz about the place in training this week and we’re going to Bridgwater with a positive attitude,” he said.

“We will try to get the three points but we know it’s a tough place to go. We know that we need to go there and win and that’s what we’ll hopefully do.”
