I think every time we go to Shrewsbury, Oxford fans are always going to remember the game we played there immediately before Covid forced the first lockdown.

Josh Ruffels scored in the last minute and there were amazing scenes with fans on the pitch and players in the stand.

In the end that goal proved crucial and got us into the play-offs so I think that afternoon is going to be firmly at the front of our minds this afternoon.

We have done well there in the last few years but we have watched Shrewsbury a lot this week and they are a good side who are going to test us all the way today.

As you know, we are going to have to cope without Marcus Browne and Sam Baldock today and for a few weeks because of injuries they picked up in the last week or two.

Don’t get me wrong, we are going to miss them because they are both quality players.

But we won’t feel sorry for ourselves about their absence because I imagine every team in the division will have similar stories to tell, if not today then in the next few games.

We have just come through a very testing run of games where we seemed to play at home every Saturday and be at the other end of the country on Tuesdays.

We have played extremely well and got ourselves into a great position but if you play so many games so close together then there is going to be fatigue and there will inevitably be injuries.

That’s why you build a squad rather than just have 11 players.

Whenever we have asked players to step into the team this season they have done brilliantly: two players out? That’s nothing, we have had games where seven were missing.

Players like Billy Bodin and James Henry are close to being fit and could feature today and if you look at our team and bench last week when we beat Burton, then there were some really good players waiting for their chance to get on the pitch and perform.

It’s all about who is available, not who is missing.

Whoever plays, we know the quality is there and we know they will wear their shirts with pride.

We have nine games left now and it’s time to really push on from an outstanding position.

If you are travelling, then be loud and proud, and if you can’t make it then we’ll see you at home to Ipswich next Saturday.

The more I explore this amazing city, the more I find amazing stories and people.

I will confess, I didn’t know too much about Helen & Douglas House but happily accepted an invitation to pop down. I am so glad I did.

It has helped countless families over the last 40 years and it’s an incredible place that Oxford should be so proud of.

I’ll do my bit and help wherever I can. When I mentioned a skydive, the Mail’s sports reporter James Roberts was first to volunteer.

Or at least he will be when he reads that line. I’ll see you when you land James…
