A RAPIST who threatened to throw acid over his victim has been jailed for more than 10 years.

Remorseless Qais Ahmed subjected his victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, to a campaign of bullying abuse over the Christmas period in 2020.

The rapist drank Red Bull so he could 'last longer' during the sexual assaults, the court heard.

Sending the 26-year-old down for 10 years and three months on Monday afternoon, Judge Ian Pringle QC said of the rapes: “It was a game for you. She saw the only thing you were interested in when sex like that took place was to see how long you would last.

“You used to take a can of Red Bull and a cannabis spliff which were great aids to make you last a bit longer."

During the trial in October, which saw Ahmed unanimously convicted of rape, causing actual bodily harm, coercive behaviour, criminal damage and witness intimidation, the victim told jurors of the sexual assaults: “I didn’t even say no in the end. I used to let him because then he’d let me go home.”

The court heard that Ahmed threatened to throw acid in her face, ‘slit the baby’ out of her, petrol bomb her house and told her she should kill herself.

When he learnt that her family members had found out about his sickening abuse, Ahmed used a hammer to smash windows at her family home and put out the windows in her grandmother’s car.

Later, including while in prison on remand, he made threatening phone calls to his victim and her sister demanding the woman change her police statement.

During the trial, Ahmed, of Withycombe Drive, Banbury, denied raping his victim, saying they had not had sex in the bathroom and the only sex they had had was consensual.

He admitted he’d pushing her backwards, but denied his behaviour was coercive and denied getting angry if he was ‘dissed’.

He had not smashed the windows in her family home, he said.

Mitigating on Monday afternoon, defence barrister Kellie Enever said her client ‘gets angry and because he’s angry he loses focus’. He was ‘groomed’ from the age of 11 and later convicted of selling cannabis. In the past he had not had the chance to do rehabilitative work with the probation service.

References from his family spoke of Ahmed as an 'amusing' youngest child who 'behaved himself' at home and was 'dearly loved'.

Pre-sentence reports and psychological reports suggested he did not accept his guilt and was remorseless, the court heard.

Judge Pringle imposed a life-long restraining order preventing Ahmed from contacting his victim and others, and a sexual harm prevention order that requires him to tell future partners of his previous convictions.
