ONE person has died in Oxfordshire after testing positive for Covid-19, as more than 13 million people have received the first dose of a vaccine in the UK.
The death, which was recorded in Cherwell, takes the total number of people who have died from the virus in the county to 667.
According to the Government’s website, as of 4pm on Wednesday there were 64 new cases in the county as local numbers continue to decline.
The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 4,440 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 6,183.

These were the numbers for the past 24 hours by local authority:
l Oxford – 12
l South Oxfordshire – 12
l West Oxfordshire – 13
l Vale of White Horse – 10
l Cherwell – 17
The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:
l Oxford – 8,637
l Oxfordshire – 30,777
Separate data from NHS England revealed that one new coronavirus death has been recorded at the Oxford Trust in the latest 24-hour period.
Daily death counts are revised every day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death. This means that some of the deaths that were first recorded in the latest period may actually have taken place days earlier.
Public Health England confirmed that the UK has recorded a further 1,001 Covid-related deaths in the latest reporting period and 13,013 new positive cases.
The Government figures include confirmed cases only.
