ANOTHER four people have died in Oxfordshire after testing positive for Covid-19 as the county recorded its lowest number of new cases in more than two months, according to the latest figures.

One death was recorded each in South Oxfordshire, West Oxfordshire,Vale of White Horse and in Cherwell.

This takes the total number of people who have died from the virus in Oxfordshire to 666.

According to the Government’s website, as of 4pm on Tuesday, there were 82 new cases in the county – the lowest since December 6 when there were 57 cases.

These were the numbers for the past 24 hours by local authority:

Oxford – 21

South Oxfordshire – 15

West Oxfordshire – 10

Vale of White Horse – 15

Cherwell – 21

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:

Oxford – 8,625

Oxfordshire – 30,713

Separate data from NHS England revealed that one new coronavirus death has been recorded at Oxford Trust as of 5pm on Monday.

Daily death counts are revised every day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death. This means that some of the deaths that were first recorded in the latest period may actually have taken place days earlier.

Public Health England confirmed that the UK has recorded a further 1,052 Covid-related deaths in the latest reporting period and 12,364 new positive cases.

The Government figures include confirmed cases only as some people who have the virus are not tested.
