Work is currently underway on a new Lidl.

Construction of the supermarket on Fairacres Retail Park in Abingdon began after planning permission was granted by Oxfordshire County Council.

The new store is expected to open in Spring 2021.

The Lidl will provide 40 new jobs when it is fully opened. 

The site will feature facilities such as an in-store bakery, customer toilets, and 'ample parking' for cars and bicycles. 

Lidl is working with the construction first Stainforth Construction LLP for the 'fit-out' phase of the new store.

Lidl GB's Regional Head of Property, Jason Buckley, said: "There's been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it is great that we are now in a position to commence our store fit-out programme.

The new supermarket forms part of Lidl's £1.45bn investment in its expansion across Britain in 2019 and 2020.
