The Oxford Brookes University law student Arthur Petan needs to learn some manners and take responsibility for his actions.

For his information, we, ‘older people’, have been in lockdown for months, not able to visit our friends or loved ones, or people we know in care homes, or hospital, many who have died amongst strangers.

Care home residents are all, ‘older people’ and are unable to leave their homes, but thousands of them died with Covid-19.

How did this happen then Mr Petan?

The last few weeks have been nice since the restrictions were eased and we were able to meet some relations, or friends, outdoors, talking walks with them, keeping the distance and wearing masks, of course, but not being able to embrace – that was hard.

Now thanks to you, and several irresponsible fellow students, we could be back to square one, back in lockdown.

You should feel bad for breaching the Covid-19 regulations by you and your fellow students and spreading the violence.

Not only have you given Oxford Brookes University a bad name, but all who have taken part in gatherings have undermined the NHS workers who have died for Covid-19 while doing their duty in trying to save people’s lives.

As a law student, Arthur Petan, you need to look in the dictionary for the meaning of mandatory as obviously you are too young to or have not got the common sense to know. It is time you grew up.

And have you heard of Sir Thomas Moore who at 100 years old raised thousands and thousands of pounds for the NHS?

He also fought for our freedom in the war, as did many others. So they deserve better than to lose their freedom in lockdown.

If Mr Petan’s view does not reflect Brookes University, then they should make an example of him, and send him home to London, maybe then students will get the message that their unsociable behavior will not be tolerated and that the Oxford residents, especially Headington resident’s, get a bit of peace and quiet, and not be kept awake until all hours with student’s partying.

We are fighting a very serious virus, and it needs everyone, young or old to do whatever it takes to beat it, not spread it, that is common sense Mr Petan.
