THERE have been 1,501 new coronavirus cases recorded in the North-East and North Yorkshire since Monday.
The UK has recorded its highest daily coronavirus death toll since May as the total deaths involving Covid-19 in the country reached 61,000.
A further 367 people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Tuesday, the Government said, while there were another 22,885 lab-confirmed cases.
Here is a breakdown of the latest confirmed cases in the region:
- County Durham: 10,993 was 10,770, an increase of 223
- Darlington: 1,872 was 1,836, an increase of 36
- Gateshead: 4,545 was 4,430, an increase of 215
- Hartlepool: 2,110 was 2,065, an increase of 45
- Middlesbrough: 3,268 was 3,209, an increase of 59
- Newcastle: 8,290 was 8,146, an increase of 144
- North Tyneside: 3,731 was 3,649, an increase of 82
- North Yorkshire: 7,226 was 7,047, an increase of 179
- Northumberland: 4,976 was 4,885, an increase of 91
- Redcar and Cleveland: 2,334 was 2,260, an increase of 74
- South Tyneside: 3,417 was 3,375, an increase of 42
- Stockton: 4,192 was 4,062, an increase of 130
- Sunderland: 6,786 was 6,665, an increase of 121
- York: 3,457 was 3,397 was 3,314, an increase of 83. Total: 1,501 more cases.
