AN Oxford property has been shut down by the court after anti-social behaviour was 'making neighbours' lives a misery'.

The house on Eastern Avenue, Littlemore, was first closed by Oxford Magistrates' Court on July 17 after evidence of fighting, drug use, drunk behaviour and loud noise.

A closure order lasts three months and stops anybody but the resident, a family member, police or council officials from going inside.

At the same court on Tuesday the house was closed for another three months, until January, after an extension was given the go-ahead.

Oxford City Council worked with Thames Valley Police and neighbours on Eastern Avenue to get the extension.

Councillor Louise Upton, cabinet member for a safer, healthier Oxford, said: “We take anti-social behaviour and drug dealing very seriously and will take action to combat these issues when it’s needed.

"Anti-social behaviour at this address was making people’s lives a misery – that is not acceptable.
