Ahead of Remembrance Day, the secretary of a branch of the Royal British Legion is calling upon people to support the poppy appeal after lockdown restrictions put paid to large scale organised fundraising events.
Jason Walker, who is secretary and treasurer of the Royal British Legion Blackburn Branch said despite the pandemic, they were working hard with their members, staff, volunteers and partners to create a range of ways for people to get involved in this year's poppy appeal.
And to demonstrate what people could do to help, Mr Walker and his daughter Madison completed the 5K Poppy Run on Sunday October 4 at Witton Park in Blackburn.
Mr Walker said: "Myself and my daughter completed the 5K Poppy Run for Royal British Legion.
"It was muddy, cold and wet but we did it and wanted to thank everyone for their donations.
"Every poppy makes a difference to the lives of our Armed Forces community.
"From buying a poppy in your local supermarket or making an online donation, to doing your own fundraising with family and friends.
"Like so many things this year, the appeal has had to adapt to the threat of Covid-19 so we're calling on the public to support us like never before, because every poppy counts."
