AN 'untouchable' drug dealer who was caught brazenly filming himself selling drugs on the street has been spared jail.

'Commercial' drug dealer Jamie Austin went on to admit dealing drugs for more than two years before he was caught with a cocktail of illegal substances.

The 23-year-old of Oliver Road, Oxford, had already admitted a string of counts alleging possession with intent to supply drugs ranging from class A to C.

Prosecutors at Oxford Crown Court said the charges related to an incident at about 6.30pm on October 28 2018.

Austin was spotted driving along Banbury Road, Summertown, and was stopped by police due to 'the manner of the driving.'

Police said there was a 'strong smell of cannabis from the vehicle' and Austin had a 'glazed look.'

The vehicle was searched and drugs were found and further investigations at his home revealed a large drug dealing operation.

In all Austin had quantities of the class A drugs cocaine and MDMA, as well as class B drugs cannabis, ketamine, N-ethyl-pentylon, and class C drugs Clonazolam and Etizolam.

A seized mobile phone featured video recordings of him carrying out drug deals, the court heard.

In mitigation his defence team said in the two years since the incident Austin had taken up an apprenticeship.

Sentencing, Judge Michael Gledhill QC said: "You had the nerve to photograph and film what you were doing and save them on your mobile phone.

"You must have thought you were untouchable.

"But two years have passed and that's no fault of yours."

He said he would 'take a risk' with Austin and added: "There will be many people who will read about this sentence who will say he should have gone to prison because he's supplying drugs on the streets of this city and for over two years.

"So I am very well aware that this sentence could be regarded as too lenient but for the reasons identified I am going to suspend that sentence."

Austin was jailed yesterday for 24 months, suspended for two years.

He must also complete the 'Thinking Skills' programme, 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £425 court costs and a victim surcharge and he was deprived of the car which was used in the drug dealing.
