Vladimir Ivic has said that Luis Suarez had been recently unavailable because he tested positive for Covid-19.

During a press conference this earlier today, Watford’s head coach said Suarez had been out and needs to recover to see if he is ready to play.

Ivic said: “With Luis Suazrez the situation is that he had Covid, he stayed out.

“The situation now is that he has come back after this break of 10 days and he needs to come into good shape to see if he is ready to play.

“Until now he is still not ready to play”.

Following a question about Suarez being linked with a move away, Ivic said: “I believe there is a lot of players who are here and haven’t played until now will be available to play in the next games.

“It will depend on their physical condition.”

Meanwhile, Ivic also said during the press conference that Troy Deeney is back training with following a knee injury, but will not be involved in tomorrow’s League Cup tie.

Ivic said the Hornets striker has “just started work” after being out since the end of last season, although is “not ready” to play in tomorrow’s Carabao Cup clash against Newport County with his future at the club still uncertain.

Ivic also said that Watford winger Ismaïla Sarr would be available to play in tomorrow’s game, although no decision has been made.
