A MAN in his early 20s was savagely assaulted in a major punch-up outside a nightclub.

The victim suffered a head injury during a fight between a group of between eight and 11 men outside The Venus night club near the junction of Broad Street and George Street in Banbury.

He suffered a cut to his eye and a minor head injury.

He was taken to the Horton General Hospital and has since been discharged.

The offender is described as a white man aged in his early 20s with short, dark hair.

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses of the scuffle that took place at about 2.55am last Saturday.

Investigating officer PC Bethany Foster, based at Banbury police station, said: "As a result of this fight, one of the men was left with a head injury which required hospital treatment.

"I am aware that there were many members of the public at the scene when police arrived, and I am appealing to anybody who witnessed what happened and have not already spoken to us, to please get in touch.
