ORGANISERS of a voluntary car service in Whitchurch say it is making a limited return.

The Whitchurch Community Car Service, which is run out of the Beechtree Centre in Claypit Street, will be adhering to new distancing guideline because of Covid-19 but will be able to run a service from Monday to Friday, 10am until 3pm.

Administrator Linda Field says the service has also been limited because of driver availability.

“Telephone calls are now being taken for the Whitchurch Voluntary Car Service," she said.

"We are offering a limited service due to driver availability.

"The phones will be manned Monday until Friday from 10am until 3pm but answerphone messages can be left after these hours.

"Due to Covid-19 new safety procedures have been put in place to keep drivers and passengers safe.

"Passengers will need to wear a face mask, sanitise hands, and travel alone in the back seat to observe social distancing rules.

"If passengers develop Covid-19 symptoms they must not put others at risk and cancel their transport with us telephoning 111 for advice.

"Drivers will be wearing masks, carrying hand sanitisers and wiping down seats and door handles before and after journeys.”
