POLICE have praised the victims who supported the case against a 'dangerous' sex offender who was jailed for a string of crimes last week.

Nelson Soares had admitted five counts of exposure, one of assault by penetration and voyeurism, and two counts of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence.

He was jailed for 10 years at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday for the offences which all took place between January and August last year in Headington.

Speaking after the sentencing investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Riddell, said: “I’d like to thank all the victims in this case as they have consistently supported the police during this investigation.

“It has been a complex case, which involved a number of different officers across the force. The investigation team throughout has been meticulous and professional, leading to the guilty plea from Soares.

“I’m glad that finally Soares has admitted to these offences, preventing the victims from going through a potentially lengthy court process and he will now have time to reflect on the damage caused by his actions.

"Soares is clearly a dangerous man, who poses a risk to the public.

“Thames Valley Police take reports of this nature very seriously and will investigate thoroughly.”
