PARAMEDICS and police officers swarmed a barn in a farmer's field after a 'serious medical emergency'.

Eye witnesses said the air ambulance helicopter landed in the field in East Hendred shortly after 11.30am this morning. 

They also spotted three land ambulances, a police van, two unmarked police cars and one normal squad car on the scene.

Now South Central Ambulance service has revealed that it was a 'medical emergency'. 

A spokesperson said that police arrived because it happened in a 'public place'.

Earlier photographs and videos from the scene showed the air ambulance landing in the field, which is just north of the A417 in East Henred, behind a housing development. 

No other details were revealed.
