AN OXFORD care worker cooked a home made Sri Lankan meal for a resident to remind him of home.

Taking to Twitter, the CEO of the charity that provides the care and support services, Sara Livadeas, reminded people why they clap for carers on Thursday.

She said: "Pradeep has cooked a Sri Lankan meal for Nathan.

"To remind him of home cooked food, because life goes on at care homes."

One person said they were choked up, replying to the tweet: "This bought a tear to my eye." Ms Livadeas, who also got to enjoy a taste of South Asia added: "Same. Ordinary people doing wonderful things."

Another person said: "This is what social care is about. Looking after the whole person - body, mind and spirit!"
