Pub chain J D Wetherspoon will pend £11 million on social distancing measures including glass screens, entry and exit signs and thousands of hand sanitisers at its sites when they reopen.
The company said each of its 875 pubs will also have a full-time cleaner.
Pubs and restaurants were told to close on March 20 - four days before the country went into lockdown.
As measures are eased, companies are planning how they will operate in this new world.
The Government has outlined a set of rules that non-essential shops must comply with before they'll be allowed to reopen.
These include making sure there is 2m between customers from different householes, that staff work on rotas which ensure there are not too many people in one location at one time and that buildings are well ventilated.
Reopening of venues which are traditionally crowded may be opened in phases to ensure they can adopt social distancing.
