A FESTIVAL to help people go green and tackle climate change is set to take place in Oxford.

The Leap into Action! event is being held at and around the Seacourt Hall in Botley from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, February 29.

There will be a range of eco-friendly activities including a bring and take stall to help people find new homes for unwanted clothes, toys, books and DVDs, as well as a plant swap.

A ‘Dr Bike’ clinic will also be on offer where people can get their bikes checked out and tuned up for free. For children there will be face painting and play activities with a green theme.

Performers will include the Oxford Taiko group with Japanese Drumming and the Cry Havoc! morris dance team.

Alongside all this there will be ideas from Oxford’s environmental groups, talks on how to save energy, and a chance to question Vale District councillors on what they are doing about climate change.

The day is being run by North Hinksey Parish Council. At 3pm it will host a ‘community climate commitment’ meeting.

Chris Church, chairman of the parish council's environment committee, said: “We want to help people play their part in tackling the climate crisis, and we want to make that interesting and enjoyable.

"Leap into Action will be a day for everyone who wants to make a difference, and for anyone who wants to see a cleaner and greener future.”
