AN 84-YEAR-OLD pervert has admitted trying to engage in sexual communications with a decoy child.

Alan Pill claims he 'doesn't remember' the contact with the 13-year-old, who was really an undercover police officer.

At Oxford Crown Court yesterday the pensioner pleaded guilty to the single count of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Prosecutors said Pill committed the offence at his home in Crotch Crescent, Oxford, between September 12 and October 12, 2018.

After the guilty plea had been entered his defence barrister asked that sentencing be adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

That report, by the National Probation Service, will explore all sentencing options.

It was also revealed at the court that the octogenarian has no previous convictions for any other offences.

Pill also claims that he 'doesn't have any memory' of carrying out the offence.

Presiding Judge Ian Pringle QC agreed to adjourn the case so that a report could be prepared ahead of sentencing.

That final sentencing hearing will take place at the same court on March 26.

He was released on bail in the meantime.
