A CHILDREN'S neurological charity is encouraging people to host a dinner party to raise money for research.

The charity Eva's Friends is helping fund a gene therapy project to find a cure for Rett syndrome, which affects thousands of children across the UK and worldwide.

The Wallingford charity is asking people to host a pop-up supper club on Saturday, March 7, or anytime in the week commencing March 2.

Hosting an Eva's Friends supper club involves inviting friends over for dinner and asking them to donate the money they would have spent on a meal out to the charity Eva's Friends.

On the night of March 7 Eva’s Friends will be hosting a live online auction, offering the chance to win a range of prizes. There will also be competitions on the charity's Facebook page.

Last year the Eva’s Friends Supper Club saw support from local and national names and business including The Jericho Kitchen Cookery School, Ceres PR, Thames Lido, LivingWell Health Clubs, Tom Kerridge, Nuno Mendes and The English National Opera.

Overall the charity raised a grand total of £6,500 last year for research into treatments and cures for rare neurological conditions in children.
