SOLAR panels will be put onto the roof of an Oxford council house.
The house at 9 Pauling Road is owned by Oxford City Council through a private company called Oxford City Housing.
The council was given planning permission to knock down an extension to a socially rented house at the address in August last year.
The garden of the house will now be divided into two and a new house will be built alongside the old one in place of the extension.

Oxford City Council's east area planning committee approved putting the solar panels on the roof of the new house when it met on Wednesday.
Committee chair Sian Taylor said she thought it seemed like a 'sensible idea' to place the solar panels on the roof and said she would like to see similar steps taken with the roofs of other houses under the care of Oxford City Housing.
A report to the committee said the solar panels would be placed on part of the roof where they would get the most sunlight possible and generate the most energy.
