A MAN was hit on the head with a metal pole in an unprovoked morning attack.

The man, who is in his sixties, was walking along Tubb Close in Bicester when he was around the head with a bar, by two men.

It happened at around 7.15am on Thursday, January 16.

The two men, who are described as white and in their twenties, then fled in the direction of Ruckeene Way.

They were both wearing dark hooded tops and dark trousers.

One of them is described as stocky, around 5ft 4ins tall, and with a beard.

The other is around 6ft tall and slim.

The victim was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury and has since been discharged.

But the investigating officer said it could have been ‘much worse’.

PC Abigail Sharman, based at Bicester police station, said: “This was an unprovoked assault on a man who had to be taken to hospital with a serious laceration to his head.

“Thankfully, it is thought the victim will make a full recovery but this so easily could have been much worse.

“I would like anyone with information about this to get in touch.

“I would ask anyone with dash-cam or CCTV in the area to check this for anything unusual around this time and pass it to police.”

Anybody who can help should call police on 101, quoting the reference 43200017061.
