A man in his fifties was left with a black eye and bruising after an altercation in Banbury.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following the altercation on Sunday January 5 at 6.15pm.

The incident took place between a man in his fifties and a group of youths in the alleyway between Christchurch Court and Bridge Street.

The man in his fifties received hospital treatment but has since been discharged.

Another victim was a teenaged boy who was left with scratches to his throat. 

The group of youths are described as being between 14 and 18-years-old and were all wearing tracksuits.

Investigating officer, PC Lucy Henderson-Slater, based at Banbury police station, said: "I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any information about what happened to please come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to call police on the non-emergency number 101, or make a report online, quoting reference 43200004673.

"Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
