Two-car crash causing traffic on A40 near Witney

South Central Ambulance Service has said it recieved 'multiple 999 calls' following the accident at about 7.45am, all reporting a two car collision on the A40 eastbound at Barnard Gate.

The service has now revealed it sent three ambulances and a paramedic team leader to the scene.

Spokesman David Gallagher went on: "Our staff at the scene assessed a total of four patients – three adults and a three-week old baby.

"Fortunately none had sustained serious injuries, but all were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for further assessment and/or treatment."

The crash and the clear-up had been causing heavy traffic queues, blocking the A40 both ways, and Oxfordshire County Council earlier warned people to avoid the area if possible:

However the road is now completely clear again.
