DEDICATED hospital staff will be recognised at an awards ceremony this week.

More than 1,500 nominations were received for this year’s Staff Recognition Awards at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH).

Three finalists in each category have been revealed ahead of the overall winners being announced at a ceremony at Oxford Town Hall on Wednesday.

Categories include individual awards for Doctor of the Year, Nurse/Midwife of the Year and New Starter of the Year as well as a host of team prizes.

Among them is the John Radcliffe and West Wing Theatres staff, who have seen their operating theatres undergo a revamp this year.

International Nurse Recruitment Team, meanwhile, which has been helping solve a chronic shortage of staff, is shortlisted for Non-Clinical Team of the Year.

There will also be a Patients’ Choice Award which is nominated by patients and the public.

A trust statement said: “Every single nominee is to be congratulated for being recognised for everything that they do every day to provide excellent and compassionate care.
