HEAVY rain has left pools of standing water on some roads and triggered a series of flood alerts covering Oxfordshire.

Downpours hammered the county overnight and, although no further rain has been forecast yet today, four flood alerts remain active today.

They cover parts of Oxford, Bicester, Farmoor and West Oxfordshire - see map below.

Property flooding is not expected but the Environment Agency has advised of flooding to low- lying land and roads.

Lower Road in Hanborough was partially flooded this morning, causing delays on the road, and there was also standing water reported on the A415 Frilford Road between Marcham and Frilford. 

The areas covered by the flood alerts are:

- River Evenlode from Moreton in Marsh to Cassington and the River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock

- River Thames and tributaries in the Oxford area

- River Ray and its tributaries from Shipton Lee to and including Islip

- River Evenlode from Moreton in Marsh to Cassington and also the River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock
