AN UNUSUAL discovery was uncovered just 18 inches below Christ Church when archaeologists found a skeleton in 1985.
The 12th century remains - which were thought could be a nun or a monk- were found by the team investigating stone foundations in the cloister next to the cathedral.
Experts were not able to determine whether the bones were male or female but said they could have been part of a graveyard which predates the present Christ Church cathedral.
The archaeologists had not dug far enough to decide whether the bones were male or female but at the time said they were thought to be too small to me male.
It was said that the skeleton could have been one of the first people to be buried in the cathedral church when it was first built.
