FEMALE staff at Co-op were subjected to a 'frightening' ordeal after being robbed and forced into the store toilets.

A gang of robbers stormed the Co-op store in Rotary Way, Banbury, on Wednesday, August 28, shortly after 6pm.

The four masked men came in through the back of the shop and forced three female staff members into the toilets, before stealing personal items from them and fleeing.

Thames Valley Police said the men escaped through the back entrance and fled in a dark-coloured vehicle with alloy wheels.

All offenders are described as wearing dark clothing, hoods, and had their faces covered.

The victims were not injured in the robbery.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Charlotte Eden of Force CID based at Banbury police station, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for all of the victims, but thankfully, apart from one victim sustaining slight bruising, they were otherwise unhurt during the incident.

“I am appealing to anybody who believes that they witnessed the incident, or who may have any dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area, to contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43190265181.
