FURTHER work should be done into Oxford North's possible impact before it is given the go-ahead, according to the Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT).
It says landscape work has showed there would be 'localised significant visual effects on the western extends of Port Meadow, with minor effects also anticipated at the southern and northern vantage points.'
The decision on whether to grant permission for Oxford North, which is planned by Thomas White Oxford (TWO), is likely to be decided in coming months.
TWO is owned by St John's College, Oxford.
In a letter to the city council, the OPT's senior planning officer, Laura Warden, states: "OPT would urge officers to carry out a full and robust assessment of these potential impacts."
She added: "Port Meadow and Wolvercote Common are a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), a scheduled ancient monument and...a special are of conservation (SAC)."
