WORK on Walton Street is expected to start again next week.
The resurfacing work has been stalled over safety fears after the road surface collapsed beneath workers in Oxford.
Now an Oxfordshire County Council spokesperson has said that an investigation has revealed a minor defect and work will carry on.
They explained: "We are yet to establish the cause of the holes but we are confident that we will be able to fill the voids and continue with the resurfacing along Walton Street over the coming week. We are now looking at the best method of filling the voids so that the road can be resurfaced as soon as reasonably practicable."
In total there were four sinkholes.
