A POLAR skier inspired young adventurers during a visit to an Oxford school.

Children at East Oxford Primary School got to meet Misba Khan, who represented the UK in an all-woman expedition to the North Pole last year.

She took questions and showed pupils items from her trip, such as dried food, insulated clothing, and the Union Jack flag she carried with her on the journey.

Children also had the chance to try on on her clothing, gloves and goggles during her visit at the end of April, learning that they can grow up to be 'anything they wish to be with enough commitment and effort.'

Pupil Hamnah Abbasi, 10, said: "Misba was really nice and I enjoyed seeing all the things you need to be an explorer. When I grow up, I want to do the same thing as her."
