Plans to build 35 flats and three houses on the site of a derelict Murco garage was agreed by Oxford City Council's East Area Planning Committee last week but has been met with criticism from residents.
City councillor David Henwood officially called in the application and gained the support of enough councillors for it to be looked at by the authority's Planning Review Committee.
Mr Henwood said he now intends to hold a public meeting and invite the area's MP Anneliese Dodds.
