A MAN accused of owning a 'dangerous' dog is due to be tried in court today.
Alexander Andrews is set to appear at Oxford Crown Court this morning, charged with two counts of being the owner of a dog that caused injury to a person while 'dangerously out of control.'
Both counts relate to incidents in Parks Road in central Oxford, to two separate alleged victims, on October 9, 2017, and November 14, 2017, respectively.
Andrews, of Woodstock Road in Oxford, has pleaded not guilty to both counts.
A jury of eight men and four women was sworn in yesterday, and is due to hear from prosecution witnesses today.
Andrews had chosen to represent himself in court, but the case was adjourned yesterday after he told Judge Peter Ross he now wanted a lawyer to present his defence.
The defendant, who is 47 years old, addressed the bench yesterday wearing a smart black suit and tie.
The breed of the dog has not yet been mentioned before jurors in court.
