IF you want a large diamond on your finger when you get engaged Oxford seems to be the place to be.
According to a new survey, people in Oxford spend the second highest amount in the UK on engagement rings.
The study by antique silverware and jewellery retailer AC Silver, found the average spend on engagement rings in the city is £7,600, second only to London (£8,000).
The trend, perhaps unsurprisingly, appears to mirror the average salaries with Oxford (£29,495) again coming just behind London (£35,235), according to the study.
The most frugal fiances were found to be from Burnley, spending £347.
