LOVE has been in the air this week as Camera Club showcased images of the people and places they care about the most.

From happy couples and bonds with pets to sitting down to watch your favourite TV show, we were impressed with the variety of interpretation's of the theme.

Oxford Mail:

With Valentine's Day on people's minds there were plenty of scenes of loved-up couples. Two we particularly enjoyed wer Ritesh Vyas's image of traditional Gujarati wedding couple and Melanie Burns' snap of her mother putting sun tan lotion on her father's face.

Both perfectly capture the quiet intimacy of those photographed.

Some of our other favourites were a family of geese waddling down a country path by Anthony Morris and a statue in a field captured Roy Pyniger of a mother and child.

Derek Bird, meanwhile, shared a stunning image of a kingfisher and explained he loved photographing them.

Oxford Mail:

He said: "Today I managed to get within about 10 feet of this one with some decent natural light highlighting the gorgeous plumage."

Ian Marriott commented it was 'a shot to remember for the rest of your life'.

Another unusual interpretation we enjoyed was Mr Marriott's own image of a tennis player in Abingdon going love 40 up to win.

Signs of love could be found in all manner of places and we enjoyed a shot of a declaration found in the Namibian desert by Louisa Tucker.

Oxford Mail:

Finally, though not technically taken by one of our Oxford Mail Camera Club members, we also wanted to share an image longtime member Derek Hall submitted of him and his wife Paula by world-renowned portrait photographer Rankin.

Sharing the beautiful shot on the club’s Facebook page he wrote: “My lovely wife who sadly lost her fight and passed away a couple of weeks ago. Loved by so many.”

Oxford Mail:

Members were quick to share their sympathy, with Bryan Robertson writing: "I am sure you have the thoughts of all the OMCC group for your loss."

The same goes for us here at the Oxford Mail.

Next week’s theme is 'sky'.
