AN OXFORD Brookes University professor is gearing up for the launch of a new book on the story of opera in the 1920s.
Professor of Music and Cultural History Alexandra Wilson will release her book ‘Opera in the Jazz Age: Cultural Politics in 1920s Britain’ on February 21.
The book explores the so-called ‘battle of the brows’ in the 1920s which was a heated debate about whether varieties of art, including opera, should be categorised as high, low or middle brow.
