HOSPITAL patients in North Oxfordshire will benefit from better diagnosis thanks to new state-of-the-art x-ray equipment at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
The brand new equipment has recently been installed in the Emergency Department which will also give doctors higher quality images while also reducing patient radiation dosage.
The equipment, which went live shortly before Christmas, is more portable so patients can be scanned on trolleys where necessary, reducing the need to use a computed radiography system or to move immobilised patients onto the X-ray examination couch.
Radiology manager at the Horton, Andrew Robinson, said: “The X-ray room looks much better than it did before. It’s lighter, fresher, more spacious, and a better place for patients and staff.”
The upgrade was funded through a £3.2m scheme from the Department of Health and Social Care.
