MUSIC fans descended on an Oxford jumble sale for a chance to get their hands on a piece of pop memorabilia for just 50p.
Superstar Annie Lennox raided her closet to donate items to the one-off sale, organised by Oxford’s branch of the Circle – a group co-founded by the Scottish singer to empower and support women.
The popstar, one half of 1980s duo The Eurythmics, is famous for pop hits like Sweet Dreams (are made of this) and Sisters Are Doin’ it for Themselves.

The majority of the items on sale at Botley's Tap Social brewery on Saturday – including a dress, Ray Ban sunglasses and a bag made out of bottle caps – were raffled for just 50p a ticket.
Rose Marsh, who helped organise the event, said: “We thought it was more fair to have the main items part of a raffle rather than an auction.
“There were also some donations from her among the general items as well so people could possibly have bought something of hers without even knowing.”
The mum-of-two added that the turnout for the event had been ‘absolutely crazy', explaining: “When I arrived at 11am there was a line of people to get in and they had to have one-in-one-out system.”

She said while many were there for the chance to win one of Annie Lennox’s donations, everything from vintage clothes and jewellery to children’s toys and books had been flying off the stalls.
Yesterday afternoon the total raised at the event had reached £4,750.
The 48-year-old added: “There was a really high quality of donations.

"I know for myself and other volunteers you want to bring something really good because of what Annie Lennox had donated.”
Emmanuelle Parr, who won the singer’s sunglasses, said: “I never win anything so was really surprised and pleased to win Annie Lennox’s sunglasses and I’ve always admired the Circle’s work so it’s a double win.” Anyone interested in getting involved in the Oxford branch can email hello@thecircle.ngo.
