MARK Jones is hopeful of adding to his threadbare Oxford City squad – but not before tonight’s FA Trophy tie at Maidenhead United.

The sides are set to complete the first round match after the initial fixture was abandoned and the second postponed.

With the next round this weekend, the tie will be decided this evening.

City head to Berkshire without suspended duo Kyran Wiltshire and Joe Oastler, as well the injured Zac McEachran (knee).

Jack Self is also cup-tied and although City are looking at bringing in reinforcements, there will be no new faces at York Road.

Boss Jones said: “We want to try to progress in the competition, but we’re going to be pretty thin on the ground again.

“We’re not going to be able to bring in any other players before the game, but we will try ahead of Saturday.

“We’re not as strong as I would like us to be, but it’s a difficult one at this time of year when you’re trying to bring people in, it’s not easy.”

Sam Nombe returned to parent club MK Dons on the eve of City’s 1-0 defeat at St Albans City in National League South on Saturday.

The loanee scored four goals in 13 appearances during a second spell at the club and Jones ruled out the possibility of the 20-year-old returning.

He said: “Sam wants to test himself at a higher level.

“I don’t think it’s a possibility (to bring him back), but he did a very good job for us.”

Meanwhile, North Leigh are also in action tonight, facing fellow strugglers Aylesbury in Division 1 Central of the Evo-Stik South League.
