A MAN who threatened to stab police officers while drunk has been banned from a Faringdon pub by magistrates and given a curfew.

Luke Larkin pleaded guilty at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on November 19 to being drunk and disorderly.

At around 2.10am on Saturday, November 3, officers attended the Wheatsheaf Pub in London Street, for an unrelated offence when Larkin became aggressive and abusive to officers.

The 29-year-old, of Westbrook, Faringdon, threatened to stab the officers, and was subsequently arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

The police officers were not injured during the incident.

Larkin was sentenced to a curfew, with eight weeks of electronic monitoring from November 19 to  January 13.

He was also ordered to pay £25 in compensation.

The court also ordered that Larkin be banned from entering the Wheatsheaf pub.

Investigating officer PC Edward Dodd of the Investigation Hub at Abingdon police station, said: “The South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse policing area is an extremely safe place to live and work, particularly in Faringdon.

“When incidents such as this occur, they can be unsettling for the local community.

“This should send out a message to those who may be tempted to threaten police and commit anti-social behaviour and public order offences in Faringdon that they will be arrested and dealt with robustly.

“Larkin will now be removed from the night time economy for the Christmas period with his tagged curfew which will keep officers safe and alert us should he breach it.”
