THE Campaign to Protect Rural England are holding a public meeting in southern Oxfordshire today, to discuss the future of rural parts of the county.

The meeting, at Letcombe Bassett Village Hall, starts at 7pm.

Julia Benning, CPRE Communications Manager explained: "Our local planning authorities are embarking on an Oxfordshire Joint Statutory Spatial Plan that will set out the development framework for the county right through to 2050.

"The Oxford-Cambridge growth corridor proposals envisage transformational levels of growth over that period. So, it’s vital that the Plan includes strong policies that will protect the countryside and bring positive benefits to rural communities."

She continued: "This event will be a chance to find out more and to input into CPRE’s own vision for rural Oxfordshire in 2050, as we campaign for the right development in the right place.

"There will also be time to find out what Vale of White Horse District has been up to over the last year, including the recent public hearings into Local Plan Part 2."
