A DRUG dealer caught with £1,600 worth of cocaine and heroin in Banbury has been jailed.

Colin Emenike, of Weir Hall Avenue, London, had denied possession with intent to supply the class A drugs.

As his trial at Oxford Crown Court came to an end on Monday a jury took just one hour and 25 minutes to unanimously convict the 20-year old.

The court heard that Emenike was caught with drugs carrying a street value of around £1,600.

He was found at Woodgreen Avenue, Banbury, on April 16 with 12.8g of cocaine and 3.47g of heroin but had denied any intention to peddle the banned substances.

Following the verdicts he was sentenced by Judge Ian Pringle QC the same day.

Before his sentence was carried out his defence team appealed to the judge for leniency in light of his age and the fact that this was his first class-A drugs related matter before the courts.

The court also heard that Emenike now wants to serve his sentence and put his offending behind him.

Sentencing Judge Pringle said that he had to impose an immediate custodial sentence given the severity of the offence.

He said: "You were found in possession of £1,600 worth of crack and heroin on April 16.

"I am satisfied that you were part of a criminal network which was involved in the supply and distribution of class A drugs at Woodbury Avenue.

"You undoubtedly did what you did for financial reward. The only mitigation here is your age, you are still very young."

He was jailed for a total of three years and six months and must pay a victim surcharge.
