DONORS will back an Oxford MP’s work with more than £7,000 until January, official documents have revealed.

Layla Moran, who was elected as the Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West and Abingdon last year, declared that her local party or central party are receiving money in support of her work from three donors.

Jane MacTaggart is a regular donor to charitable causes and has given other money away through the Oxfordshire Community Foundation.

Sir Hugo Brunner was a former Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire between 1996 and 2008 and a former Liberal Party politician.

They are joined by Jessica Frankopan by donating £200 a month in support of Ms Moran from January until January 2019.

The donations are declared in the Register of Members’ Financial Interest, released earlier this week.

She declared the gift of an annual membership of the National Liberal Club in London, worth £1,102.50, and a visit to Tanzania in July and August. That was worth, in total, £1,948.13 and was undertaken to see work UK Aid was doing.

Other Oxfordshire MPs declared earnings from jobs, which have already been approved by official watchdogs.

Ed Vaizey earns £24,000 a year from NEC Europe for about four hours’ work a month. He has a number of outside jobs.
