A PUBLIC meeting tonight to discuss how to save a country pub under-threat of closure has been postponed.

Landlords Jeff and Michaela Keegan had appealed for help from the community following a string of issues since they took on the lease for the The Black Horse, at Gozzards Ford near Abingdon, in April.

Mr Keegan, 55, claims brewery Greene King, who own the building, did not do the proper checks before handing over the leasehold to the couple which has left them struggling to pay the bills.

The couple have now agreed to delay the meeting due to John Forrest, the managing director of Greene King, moving forward his own meeting with the couple to Monday.

The community gathering was due to take place at 7pm at the Faringdon Road pub.

Dave Mountford from the Pubs Advisory Service was also set to attend.

A Greene King spokesperson previously told the Oxford Mail the company was satisfied proper due diligence was carried out when the lease was handed over but was working to help Mr and Mrs Keegan.
