NIAMH McGuckin made a superb return to the ring with victory in the Senior Development Championships.

The Berinsfield fighter, a two-time national champion, was back in action after a four-year break from the sport.

McGuckin, who turned 19 last week, had her first bout in the semi-finals against Rosanna Ratzer, of Gosport ABC.

Her opponent threw big shots, which the Berinsfield girl slipped, rolled and countered beautifuly, gaining a 4-1 split decision.

This set her up for her fourth national final – this time as a senior.

Despite conceding a considerable height advantage to Tracey Webber, from Manchester’s Northside club, McGuckin landed some heavy punches in the opening round.

This put her rival on the back foot and she was never to recover.

McGuckin kept chasing her opponent, cutting off her angles while landing multiple clean shots to both the head and body.

It gave her a 5-0 unanimous decision and another national title.
